His expertise lies in building and scaling payments, fintech, AI, cybersecurity, and digital products. Throughout his career, he has worked in Canada, the USA, and the UAE, consistently delivering exceptional results and leading transformative initiatives.
Currently, Abrar holds the position of Director of Delivery & Engineering Management - Middle East at EPAM Systems Inc. in Dubai. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing a monumental Digital Transformation program for Alshaya Group, the largest retail group in the Middle East. Under Abrar's guidance, the program has achieved remarkable outcomes, including a 6% increase in conversion rates and a remarkable 200% improvement in performance through successful app launches for leading retail brands.
Previously, Abrar served as the Vice President of Engineering at Callsign Technologies in Abu Dhabi. He played a crucial role in establishing and scaling the UAE operation, leading a team of over 70 engineers. Abrar's strategic vision and technical expertise enabled the successful integration of Callsign's solution at First Abu Dhabi, resulting in a significant reduction in fraud across the digital banking channel.
During his tenure at IBM in Toronto, Canada, Abrar held several leadership positions, executing multi-million-dollar digital transformation initiatives and payment modernization programs for renowned organizations such as Scotiabank, TD Bank, and Air Canada. His commitment to excellence led to improved customer satisfaction and exceptional App Store ratings.
As the Chief Technology Officer at Nown POS, based in Toronto, Abrar led the product and engineering teams in developing the first-ever Bluetooth mobile payment and cloud-based POS solution. His work resulted in patents for Bluetooth mobile payments and securing PCI DSS certification.
