Green startup Bloomspoon has landed a $218,000 investment in exchange for 49% equity during Season 3 of Shark Tank Dubai, marking a significant boost for the young company’s sustainability mission.
Founded in 2023 by Mostafa Khattab, Bloomspoon is pioneering plantable cutlery—reusable utensils made from wheat straw embedded with biodegradable seed capsules. After using them, consumers can simply plant the cutlery to grow herbs like mint or basil, turning what would typically be waste into something green and useful.
Strategic Backing from a Retail Powerhouse
The investment came from Toufic Kreidieh, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of the Brands for Less (BFL) Group, a major force in Middle Eastern retail. His support is seen as a strategic win for Bloomspoon—not just in terms of funding, but also access to distribution networks, retail expertise, and regional market reach.
“This partnership is about more than money,” said Khattab. “It’s about scaling impact. With Mr. Kreidieh’s experience and platform, we can accelerate our mission to make sustainability effortless and accessible.”
Kreidieh, impressed by the concept and its appeal among younger generations, noted during the show: “You cannot imagine how the Gen Zs are looking for these ideas,” highlighting the growing consumer demand for purpose-driven innovation.
Purpose-Driven and Planet-First
Bloomspoon isn’t just selling eco-friendly cutlery—it’s building a brand rooted in sustainable habits. The company pledges to plant a tree with every order and operates a carbon-neutral website, aligning with its long-term vision of creating lifestyle products that are both practical and planet-positive.
The startup’s profile has already been elevated by regional media coverage on Forbes Middle East, Reuters, The Weather Channel, and Dubai One TV, signaling strong interest in their model.
What’s Next for Bloomspoon?
With fresh capital and new strategic backing, Bloomspoon plans to expand its product range, strengthen its retail presence, and pursue B Corp certification, a globally recognized standard for socially and environmentally responsible businesses.
Looking ahead, the company aims to grow its footprint across the MENA region and become a household name for consumers looking to adopt sustainable practices without compromising on convenience or design.
From a simple eco-idea to a Shark Tank success story, Bloomspoon is showing how innovation can sprout—literally—from the ground up.
