UAE LegalTech Startup Qanooni Raises $2M to Expand AI-Powered Platform Across UAE and UK

The round was led by Village Global, Oryx Fund by Salica Investments, TA Ventures, and a group of strategic angel investors.

UAE-based regulatory technology (regtech) company Qanooni has closed a $2 million pre-seed funding round, drawing support from prominent global and regional investors. The round was led by Village Global, Oryx Fund by Salica Investments, TA Ventures, and a group of strategic angel investors.

Launched in 2024 by Anuscha Iqbal, Ziyaad Ahmed, and Karim Shiyab, Qanooni is building an AI-native legal productivity platform that integrates directly into Microsoft Outlook and Word—tools already central to a lawyer’s daily workflow. This eliminates the need for external platforms, offering a smoother, faster way for legal professionals to draft, edit, and manage documents using AI that mirrors their tone and internal standards.

Shaping the Future of Legal Workflows

Qanooni’s proprietary technology is designed to enhance speed, accuracy, and consistency in legal document handling. The platform also supports integrations with document management systems, enabling end-to-end efficiency across legal teams.

With this new capital, Qanooni aims to:

  • Scale operations in the UAE and UK

  • Further develop its customizable AI engine

  • Drive adoption among law firms and corporate legal teams across MENA and Europe “We’re building AI tools that meet legal professionals where they work, instead of asking them to change how they work,” said Anuscha Iqbal, co-founder and CEO.

Investor Backing from Across the Globe

The round also attracted backing from respected angel investors such as Ben Casnocha, Sri Batchu, Josh Rodger, Viktoriya Tigipko, Andrew Verbitsky, Jimmy Stone, Nicholas Nottebohm, Ashish Shetty, and Miguel Rodrigues—all bringing expertise in enterprise SaaS, AI, and legal-tech.

Investor interest reflects the growing demand for regulatory and legal tech solutions that enhance productivity without disrupting existing ecosystems—a key challenge in the traditionally change-resistant legal sector.

By embedding powerful generative AI within the familiar tools of legal professionals, Qanooni is positioning itself to lead the evolution of AI-enhanced legal services in the region and beyond.
