Waterfront Market is supporting Emirati entrepreneurs with business startup opportunities

Startups and SMEs wishing to set up and run their own stall at the Waterfront Market will receive preferential rates and set-up fees.

In its ongoing efforts to support the local economy and the fishing industry, Waterfront Market has announced that it has signed a joint venture with Dubai SME to offer employment opportunities to small and medium-sized businesses.

With a focus on the Emirati community, Waterfront Market aims to entice SMEs to join its vibrant community by the end of 2021. Those wishing to set up and run their own stall at the Waterfront Market will receive preferential rates and set-up fees. They will also receive numerous other benefits, which will help them develop their business.

Mohammad Al Madani, Waterfront Market Manager said: “At Waterfront Market we are passionate about celebrating and empowering the local community so that they can set up their own businesses whilst reviving and nurturing the old tradition of fishing. We are delighted with the response so far and look forward to having more Emirati women and men working with us at Waterfront Market.”

Saeed Matar Al Marri, Dubai SME Deputy CEO said: “Finding employment opportunities is key to ensuring the success of the nation. We are delighted to be partnering with Waterfront Market to offer these opportunities to help support SME’s whilst also supporting the fishing industry.”

Entrepreneurs Fatima Al Hashemi and Omar Kalantar have made use of this unique opportunity and are set to be the youngest Emirati trader entrepreneurs at the Waterfront Market, where they will both have their own stalls located inside the fish market. This initiative will also benefit senior Emirati women who are looking to find a new source of income to further support themselves and their families by trading in fish and seafood products, which will be supplied by veteran Emirati fish trader Khalid Al Soulaiteen at symbolic rates.
