Integrated Transport Centre Collaborates with LocationMind to Advance Traffic Analysis Research 

During the 10th session of the Abu Dhabi Japan Economic Council, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the Japan Cooperation Centre for the Middle East, held in Abu Dhabi, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) inked a strategic agreement with LocationMind, a leading Japanese firm specializing in research, big data analysis, and geographic information engineering.

The agreement seeks to enhance innovation in data utilization and bolster support for traffic analysis initiatives, aligning with the emirate's forward-looking vision.

As part of ongoing endeavors to foster innovation, research, and development in data analysis and artificial intelligence, the agreement underscores the significance of coordination and cooperation across various domains. These encompass the formulation of data utilization frameworks and the provision of comprehensive real-time data visualization and analysis in Abu Dhabi. This collaboration endeavors to harness advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to analyze traffic flow, predict accidents, and optimize traffic signal operations, among other applications.

The agreement outlines a roadmap to develop smart city applications, including dynamic public transport information and alerts related to population density and movements during events and special occasions, leveraging the resources of the Integrated Transport Centre to collect spatial data.

This partnership bolsters the emirate's capacity to deliver sustainable and efficient transport services, fostering continuous development to enhance service quality while reinforcing technology and innovation across core sectors.

On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, attendees delved into the ITC's experience in establishing a smart and sustainable transport system that facilitates the mobility of residents and visitors in Abu Dhabi, prioritizes road safety and security, and advances the objectives of sustainable development, in alignment with the vision of the UAE’s wise leadership.

The ITC is spearheading several pioneering projects, including the introduction of the first hydrogen-powered taxi and Automated Rapid Transit - ART, which further the goals of comprehensive development and embody the principles of sustainable transport. This is realized through the adoption of cutting-edge technology and environmental sustainability. Consequently, the ITC is actively developing innovative transport solutions to ensure efficient and seamless traffic flow, aspiring to realize a future where safe and convenient transport options are accessible to all, in accordance with the highest international standards.
